Elevate Holistic Dental

Pediatric Holistic Dentistry
At Elevate Holistic Dental, we view childhood as the most critical window to establish a foundation for lifetime wellness. We begin welcoming children to our practice at age 3 for routine cleanings, gentle exams, and positive oral health experiences. Unlike conventional pediatric dentistry, which often focuses solely on managing cavities after they appear, our holistic approach examines the root causes of oral imbalances. We use strictly biocompatible, non-toxic materials, entirely avoid mercury or heavy metals, and screen early for structural developmental issues. By prioritizing a child’s comfort and looking at their oral health through the lens of whole-body wellness, we ensure their growing immune systems and developing bodies are thoroughly supported.

The Hidden Risks of Mouth Breathing in Children

Proper development relies entirely on a simple, foundational habit: continuous nasal breathing. When a child chronically breathes through their mouth, it alters the natural resting posture of the tongue, lips, and jaw. This simple shift can have profound cascading effects on a child’s structural, behavioral, and systemic health.
Biological Tongue &
Lip Tie Release
(Frenectomy)

Ankyloglossia, commonly known as a tongue-tie, is a biological condition where the lingual frenulum, the web of tissue connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth, is unusually short, thick, or tight. This restriction prevents the tongue from moving freely and functioning correctly. Affecting roughly 4% to 11% of the population, tongue and lip ties can fundamentally alter oral development and whole-body wellness from infancy well into adulthood.
The Systemic Impact:
From Infancy to Adulthood

Because biological dentistry prioritizes proper airway health and craniofacial development, we look at how a restricted tongue ripples across a patient's entire lifespan.
Infants & Mothers
A tongue-tie severely disrupts a baby’s ability to create a proper vacuum latch during feeding. For infants, this can manifest as poor weight gain, inadequate feeding, colic (from swallowing excess air), sleep disturbances, and an abnormally high, narrow hard palate. For mothers, it frequently causes severe breastfeeding pain, blocked milk ducts, mastitis, and emotional stress during bonding.
Childhood Development
Untreated ties often lead to sensory food aversions because the child cannot properly move and chew solid foods. It can also impair speech articulation, distort dental arch development (leading to crowded teeth), and disrupt deep sleep patterns, which sometimes triggers behavioral issues.
Adult Manifestations
When left unaddressed, the body compensates for a restricted tongue for decades. In adults, this chronic strain frequently manifests as severe jaw clenching, TMJ disorders, chronic migraines, upper-body posture imbalances, and sleep apnea.
Our Collaborative &
Biological Approach
Early intervention is paramount to supporting your child’s systemic development. A successful resolution always begins with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. We work closely alongside international board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs), speech-language pathologists, and myofunctional therapists to ensure the root functional issues are fully addressed before and after the release.
